Townhouse Roof Repair Gaithersburg Md
This townhouse in Gaithersburg, Maryland, suffered from a few leaks; mostly from very shoddy workmanship from a
previous roofer. We see stuff like this all the time.
There were several areas that were just left "unfinished", mostly having to do with step flashings being
improperly installed, siding incorrectly applied, and flashing on the top of the chimney box being placed
"backwards".
The lower section of flashing at the bottom of the chimney was also repaired; as it was a major leak
too.
In general, all of the shingles were originally nailed improperly to some degree -- as the pressures used by
the pneumatic nail applicator were too high -- and most of the nails simply "blew through" the shingles. Again, nothing new
to us; we see this all the time. It seems that even though the manufacturer (not named here) will certify a company as a
"professional applicator", no pneumatic gun techniques are actually taught in the field . . .
Our company, Home Restorations of Md, completely trains our crews "in the field" -- especially in the area of
pneumatic shingle nailing -- and we modify our equipment to be "fail safe". I haven't ever seen another local company take
these measures . . .
And, of course, taking before-during-and-after pictures of the installation is a great way to build trust and show our customers
that the job was completed properly, as promised -- and expected.
